The BMW 3 Series model year guide

BMW E21 - (1975–1983) 3 Series

BMW E30 - (1984–1994) 3 Series

BMW E36 - (1992–1998) 3 Series

BMW E46 - (1999–2006) 3 Series

BMW E90 - (2005–) 3 Series (standard body type) saloon

BMW E91 - (2006-) 3 Series Touring (estate version)

The BMW 3 Series was designed to replace the earlier 2002 model (now a popular classic) Every year the 3 Series has seen new developments in one form or another. The most famous of these has been the BMW Motorsport models or "M Series" cars. The M models are very different from the standard 3 Series cars if you have a 3 Series M Sport (M3) the please consult the year guide bellow

BMW M Series or M3 year guide

BMW E30 M3 - (1986 - 1992) The BMW M3 first hit the road back in 1986 The E30 M3 stayed in production until 1992. The E30 M3 is very different from its E30 donor and has very noticable body work changes and a high rear boot lid. These cars were produced in limited numbers. We have many years of experience with these and offer expert advice on maintaining this brilliant modern classic.

BMW E36 M3 - (1992 - 1999) The E46 M3 was produced in 2 door coupe, 4 door saloon and convertible models with engine types from 3 litres upto the 3.2 litres and a CSL model in 1995. We see alot of valve timing issues on these and other well known problems if you own an M3 and have any questions please let us know.

BMW M3 GT  - (1995 only) This model was only produced in small numbers to forfill the FIA homoligation rules for enducrance racing. Only 50 right hand drive models were produced for the UK with slightly higher numbers of left hand drive models available in Europe.

BMW E46 M3 - (2000 - 2006) The E46 M3, first introduced in October, 2000, appeared worldwide with the new 3.2 L S54B32 engine.

E90/92/93 M3 - (2008 - current) The S65 engined M3 is a 4litre V8. This car is rated at over 400bhp making it a practicle alternative to sleek supercar.
